The Oregon Advanced Health Care Directive (Living Will) is created with respects to the US statutes §§ 127.505 – .660 and § 127.995 and will require 2 witness to be legally binding solely within the state of Oregon. The state of Oregon does not recognize an individual living will or power of attorney document but joins the two in a single document. The document will become invalid on a given date if the principal states or at any other time of the principal`s choosing. It will also be invalid should the principal become pregnant. The document is a formal declaration to legally choose the medical treatment they will receive should they become incapacitated to a degree that it becomes impossible for them to do so at that time. This power over their health care can be via preferences and statements made within the document by the principal or by the principal selecting another person, `The Agent`, to facilitate their health care requirements.
